In Cambridge through April 27

Winter Silence on the River (2023) is one in a four-part series, and my first foray into non-traditional framing. It’s featured in Cambridge Art Association’s juried show in the Kathryn Schultz Gallery on Lowell Street. The gallery is open Tues-Fri 12–4pm, Sat, 10am–2pm.

The Association and its Kathryn Schultz Gallery are located at 25 Lowell Street, close to Mt. Auburn Hospital. It’s a big yellow building and the gallery entrance is around the back. It’s a pleasant 15-minute walk from Harvard Square, and the 71 and 73 buses are an easy alternative that’ll take all of 5 minutes. If you drive and don’t have a Cambridge parking permit, try the small lot just to the south of the building or in the metered spots on the south side of Mt. Auburn Street. If you cant find a spot, the odds of getting a ticket on the side streets during a brief visit are very low.

The Heart of the Matter

The Heart of the Matter

River Dusk

22″ x 31″ archival inkjet print

This composite of three images (I know, it looks like four, but one of the panels comes from the background image) represent an important phenomenon and place in my life.  In the summer, usually late in the preparations for dinner, it’s not unusual for some member of the family to exclaim, “Oh My God, everyone get out here. You’ve gotta see this sunset!”  So we stop for a bit and walk down to the river’s edge to watch, mostly in silence, as the sun sets.  In those moments, we are one with each other and will all things, space, time and light.
